Wrestlefudge ROAD*TRIP Pt.1

In Pt.1, we look at CTWE's Bricco-Mania IV in Bethany, CT on April 28th, WrestleJam 8 in Wallingford, CT on May 8th, and a final hype towards TONIGHT's "Sinister Intentions" presented by Slam All-Star Wrestling in St.Albans, VT.

Will is already drinking.
And I'm a little nervous.

SAW Sinister Intentions: Quick Preview

Will Cena's Personal IYFW Unofficial Top Ten Rankings for March 2012

1. Pierre Vachon - IYFW Champion (--)

I’ve been looking for a reason to not make Vachon the number one guy and I simple can’t… Show after show (in my brief period watching IYFW) Vachon seems to dominate. Fan favorite Bobby Ocean was simply unable to overcome the dreaded “Mandible Claw” on St.Patty’s Day, with the support of the entire house behind him at that. In the end, Vachon is just a Juggarnaut around IYFW and will be for the foreseeable future. Evans, Ocean, Dominguez, Vigo…. All fell just short. Obviously IYFW needs to find answer to this “Beast”.

2. Bobby Ocean – (#1Contender) (--)

It’s no secret that I truly appreciate the hard work this guy puts in around Independent Wrestling. Therefore if you call foul on me well….. piss off! Bobby O is my guy!! I believe that Bobby came just short of beating Vachon and from what I’ve seen from past matches, came the closest to actually grabbing the belt from Vachon. I believe over the next few shows people will understand why I put him second on my first UnOfficial Official Top Ten, as Bobby Ocean has a bright future and those of us that follow IYFW are in for some great matches involving Bobby Ocean.

3. Drake Evans – (--)

Drake doesn’t need to prove anything to anyone in my eyes. Now it seems that the once fan favorite could be turning to the “darkside”… knocking out the referee after a controversial count out on St.Patty’s Day, could just be the first step into the depths of Drake Evans soul. How could a fan favorite just snap? Completely doing the opposite of what was and is expected from his fans… either way snap he did. By the pictures posted on facebook it would appear that the ref’s face got snapped and that was no warning shot. The field of IYFW should be looking over their shoulders with a possibly devious Drake Evans on the prowl, the ref is probably not the last victim of the new Drake Evans.

4. “the Pillar” Roman Dominguez – (--)

Even after allegedly breaking his ribs against Drake Evans on St.Patty’s Day, Dominguez continued to battle his opponent. I have to give credit where it’s deserved, and Dominguez is a bad ass! Regardless of what I say on the Blogcast (shameless plug “Wrestlefudge found weekly, covering everything Indy Wrestling”), I have serious respect for anyone who battles thru a possible injury and still had a serious chance of winning against Drake Evans. That’s not an easy task and had it not been for a controversial count out Roman quite possibly could have been the victor.

5. Fronz Roddy – (--)

Yes it pains me greatly to have this guy in my top 5… however the fact that he wrestled two matches on St.Patty’s Day, coupled with the announcement that Roddy is to face Val Venus on May 18th shows that IYFW has great confidence in him. I also saw in Roddy great pride and determination, I don’t have to like this guy but I do have to respect the effort. I am really looking forward to the May 18th show and I can’t believe I’m saying this but….. Fronz Roddy is a big reason for that. Go ahead Paul get on your soap box, I’m ready for the tongue lashing…

6. C.J.Scott – (--)

The Wolf became the easiest guy to hate in Independent Wrestling on St.Patty’s Day. It’s bad enough to turn your back on your tag team partner, but even worse to turn on your tag team partner that’s also your brother. Congratulations Scott! We all think you’re the lowest of the low…. Unfortunately for me “the ‘fudge” has to report the facts as we see them. The Fact is that C.J. Scott is very dangerous running around the IYFW and people need to look out. C.J. is about to make a serious impact on the rankings and I wouldn’t be surprised if he is in my top 5 after the May 18th show. Whomever is in the Wolf’s sights needs to think seriously about another profession, some names that need to be on the lookout? Well just look above in my Top 5, I’m sure one of those guys is already targeted.

7. Vigo – (--)

This Mountain of a Man will be interesting to watch over the next few shows. Paul has told be great things from the past and seeing in person just solidified my opinion that Vigo is a possible IYFW Champion. A fan favorite, as well as skilled, equal a dangerous opponent for anyone, on any given day. The way Vigo interacted with the fans during his 6 man tag match was very entertaining and good to see that the Big Man worked well in a tag environment. I can’t wait to see him against a single opponent!

8. Liam McFerrin – (IYFW New Breed Champion) – (--)

I’m sure I’m going to catch some flak from not having the New Breed Champion a little higher in my Top Ten, but I feel that Liam got a big emotional boost on St.Patty’s Day from the environment and the energy that the crowd put into the match. I want to see him defend the belt then I promise to award him with a move up the UnOfficial Official Top Ten.

9. Michael Anthony – (--)

What can I say that already hasn’t been said? Michael is going to be involved in great things in IYFW future events, I can feel it in my bones! This guy equals excitement and crowd involvement of any match he is involved in. I see the Tag Belts in Blood Money’s future and Anthony is the reason. Yes it takes two to win the tag belts but with Scarsdale’s resources and brains, Anthony becomes a very dangerous enforcer. The Uprising needs to be very careful when facing Blood Money, as the rules don’t seem to apply? If you know what I mean ref!!! I wouldn’t even rule out a run at the New Breed Belt for Michael Anthony, the sky is the limit.

10. Scott Scarsdale – (--)

Scott can possibly be “The” mover and shaker in IYFW. By tapping into Michael Anthony, Scarsdale now has his claws into the “Hottest” thing in IYFW. A smart move from a smart guy, not only does the Millennium Millionaire talk the talk, but it would seem he is walking the walk. Scott makes my Top Ten on brains, instead of brawn.

Honorable Mention:

The Rocket – Book the Rocket Campaign!!

Jamar Justice – Come on Jamar, getting knocked out by your own Tag Belt is not impressive…

Foxx Vinyer – The Best Marketing Mind in the business, but when can we see in the ring again?

Ian Daniels – Expect Great things in the future, possibly New Breed Title Contender?

Good Lord Willing – Just flat out entertaining!!

The UNOFFICIAL OFFICIAL TOP TEN RANKINGS for IYFW, March 2012 Edition

1.) Pierre Vachon - IYFW Champion (1)
There is certainly no other IYFW performer who stands a chance of wrenching this top spot - or perhaps even the IYFW Championship - from the man they have named "The Beast". With no clear number one contender to the belt and with Vachon vanquishing all comers one has to wonder just WHO can stand against him? And WHO will he face on May 18th in Amsterdam, NY?

2.) "The Pillar" Roman Dominguez and "Born to Win" Drake Evans (2 and 3)
Hard to NOT put these guys in the same slot this month. A feud that began to decide a new top contender has devolved into a rivalry that seems to have transcended the belt entirely. From the moment the bell rang, these two gave fans in attendance at the BACC an intense, hard hitting match that unfortunately ended in a double count out. This feud is also on course to (maybe?) culminate at the "Memories, Moments and Mayhem" show... Should be fun!

3.) Bobby Ocean (--)
Bobby O put on a thrilling performance against Vachon on St.Patrick's Day and it's nice to see him ranked in the top ten once more. In spite of all of his efforts a few weeks back, Ocean still finds himself without that first big singles title win and one has to wonder how long that will be true. As "The Hardest Working Man in Independent Wrestling™" the future seems bright for "The Shaft" both within IYFW and outside. When we interviewed him for Episode 8 of our BLOGCAST, we asked him who he might face on May 18th he told us his match would be "very stiff". Hmmm. Given the superstar announcements made, I think I know who that opponent might be... Could be a one of Ocean's biggest matches, and challenges to date! We shall see!

4.) Liam McFerrin - IYFW New Breed Champion (6)
What a night for BIG IRISH! McFerrin has been slowly climbing up the proverbial ladder as well as these actual rankings since I started them up... Now he finds himself as the New Breed Champion. If only he didn't have to unceremoniously dethrone The Mighty One along the way...

5.) Vigo (4)
Vigo picked up a nice win at the Massacre alongside Nocturne and Rickity Rockett but still finds himself too far from the main event for my taste. Before the Massacre kicked off, I caught Vigo outside the building and he told me he was "getting his house in order". I have to assume, and quietly hope, that his house cleaning is behind him before the May event hits and would like to see Everyone's Favorite Fatkid have a solid second half of 2012!

6.) Ian Daniels (9)
The Anarchist won the battle *AND* the war against tyranny, tea bags, and the Union Jack a few weeks back when he defeated GoodLord Willing once and for all(?) in a riveting European (Step) Ladder Match. Daniels makes a big jump up the rankings by virtue of that big win and by effectively ending the feud. What does the future hold for "Ballston Spa's Choice"? Stay tuned!

7.) CJ Scott (--)
Oh, snap. One half of the former Savage Wolves has finally cracked the top ten due to his earning a valid IYFW contract as well as his victory over his flesh and blood, Damon Ravage. Scott finds himself in a unique position: having become what he despised, betraying his own family for the promise of a few bucks... How can CJ look at himself in the mirror? How can he reconcile what he has done? We hope to have him on the BLOGCAST soon to answer just that!

8.) Jamar "Magic" Justice - IYFW Tag Team Champion (5)
The Magic Man takes a modest dip in the rankings thanks to The Uprisings loss to Blood Money... as well as having stolen our chairs several times during intermission.

9.) Fronz Roddy (7)
Oh, Fronz. How did this happen? This ranking just hurts.

10.) Michael Anthony (--)
Shakeweight-A-Mania has arrived in IYFW and is taking the area by storm! By joining Blood Money, Michael Anthony has assured himself a place on the card at nearly every show: if they aren't booked, Scarsdale can just BUY the booking. Their victory at the Massacre may have been tarnished with controversy yet it's still a win and will unquestionably lead to amtsgmtitle match, likely at the May 18th event.
---------------------------------------------------

Notice how I've been mentioning that May show a lot? That's because IYFW needs - and deserves - a huge crowd for this event! They need all hands on deck to promote, talk about, and push this show on all fronts! Whether you're an IYFW wrestler, an IYFW Superfan like us, or someone just stumbling across this blog for the first time today (hi there, by the way!) you owe it to yourself AND to independent wrestling to TALK ABOUT this show, to SHARE it with your Facebook friends and FORCE everyone you know, at gun point if you must, to attend this show. Get your tickets NOW because time is a wasting!

IYFW Presents: St.Patrick's Day Massacre RECAP/REVIEW

Wow.

That seems to be an appropriate response in reaction to last Saturday nights "St.Patrick's Day Massacre" in Ballston Spa, New York's Ballston Area Community Center! Another very fun show that went about 3 hours yet STILL felt as though the time flew by. While official attendance figures haven't been announced, I have to assume that there was close to 200 in the building; a number that approaches a company record. Clearly, the company is riding a bit of a momentous wave heading into what HAS to be considered their biggest show ever on May 18th in Amsterdam (but more on that event in future posts!) and this show did a lot to further that momentum.

The Wrestlefudge Contingent was certainly in attendance and we debuted the official wrestlefudge t-shirts which were an EXTREMELY hot commodity at the event. Will Cena and I handed out a few to some lucky fans on the way in and the moment that they opened the doors and we got in line for our pre-ordered tickets we were inundated with friendly requests for shirts for some of the actual IYFW wrestlers working the show. Unfortunately, the supply did not keep up with the encouraging demand and we are in the process of getting a solid amount ready for the SAW show in VT at the end of the month - as well as some more for IYFW's May 18th event. But, again, much more on that later. We are honored and amazed by the response they have received. Thanks, all!

We took our seats in The Heel Section and settled in for what would turn out to be another memorable event!

First up was a six man tag featuring the repackaged, Real, Genuine, and Actual Rob Coleman teaming up with Chuck Deep and "Badd" Brad Wesley taking on the fan favorite super team of Nocturne, Vigo, and - holy shit - The Rickity Rockett!

The "BOOK the ROCKETT" Campaign has made its mark!

Deep and Wesley were two guys I had never seen in action before, with a flamboyant entrance and a lot of swagger. They seemed smooth in the ring and seemed to get some nice heel heat from the crowd. Coleman, however, didn't seem to get a lot of ring time - and why aren't they giving us the Coleman/Vinyer program that seems like such a natural fit? But, I digress...

This was a VERY fun, fast paced match that saw the Rockett get a lot of love from the crowd and maybe the most offense I've ever seen him display. Some fun spots with Vigo throwing Noc and Ricky across the ring...

Nice senton splash from Nocturne!

Vigo would nail a MASSIVE elbow drop whose impact seemed to lift the ring from the floor momentarily before getting the pin on Wesley.

A fun match to kick things off, for sure!

Up next was the European Ladder match! Good Lord Willing was out first, followed by Ian Daniels who brought a horrifically old and beaten ladder to the ring with him. Willing was quick to get on the mic and let Daniels know that THAT ladder was illegal! And only GLW's ladder was able to be used... He pulled it out from under the ring and, wouldn't you know it...

...it was a stepladder. I had joked a few BLOGCAST episodes ago that a stepladder match might be comical and was thrilled to find out that it absolutely was. The Good Lord explained that to WIN such a foolish contest, one would have to pin his opponent WITH the step ladder. Love it. This was a straight up comedy match that delivered from bell to bell.

It wasn't MEANT to be a five star classic... And it wasn't. But a two star classic? Absolutely.

The match basically focused on the myriad number of ways that Good Lord Willing could attack poor Ian Daniels tender crotchal region. His gonads were bashed six ways from Sunday.

Above we see Daniels nail his double knee splash on the Lord of Lordage moments before the Pin of Pins.

Daniels picked up the win, besting Willing in the series with a 2-1 record and - one must assume - ending their squabble once and for all!

Next, we would be treated to a singles match between newly-single "MegaStar" Michael Monroe and The Northern Studd. Monroe made sure he ripped his chest hair off and threw it in my direction before the match.

You read that right.

This solid match can best be described as a see-saw battle. Monroe hit a solid hurricanrana off the top that impressed the crowd without a doubt. When the crowd called for a 450 splash, Monroe just mocked the fans and made it clear he wasn't there to be their puppet. God, I love heels.

The finish saw a series of near falls that resulted in Monroe resorting to a handful of The Studd's tights to pick up the win.

Next up was the IYFW New Breed Championship match! Fronz Roddy - the Mightiest Athlete in Wrestling - was faced with defending his coveted title or having it TAKEN from him by lecherous, out of shape In Your Face officials. Shiloh Robinson exploded through the curtain to a nice pop. The look in his eyes told you this could be his night.

The two locked up and, for a time, fans were treated to a hard hitting contest - until Shiloh missed an artful Top Rope Moonsault and came up clutching his knee. Actually, he never "came up" at all. Instead, he rolled into the far corner, screaming in agony.

Referee Dan Roberts didn't hesitate to throw up the "X" which called out other referees and officials, including Maxx Burton, who carefully helped an anguished Robinson to the back.

This allowed Ballston Spa fans the all too rare opportunity to hear from Fronz Roddy on the admittedly shoddy house mic! Fronz reminds everyone how fantastic he is and prepares to leave... When Maxx reappears and informs him that because he missed the January show... He has a match to make up. Maxx also told Fronz that the match would happen right now and would be against the very appropriate "Big Irish" Liam McFerrin!

The Heel Section heeled Liam upon his entrance, inquiring on the location of his sister before the bell. I knew where this was going.

Another entertaining match between these two. Have to admit I was shocked to see Liam kick out of the AusCrusher - despite Fronz's completely necessary showboating in between the pin attempt. McFerrin would then hulk up like a boss. As shocked as I was by the kick out, I was even more shocked to see Liam pick up a pin fall win after a slingshot into the turnbuckle.

A slingshot. Into the turnbuckle.

Really?!? I can come to terms with Fronz losing. Eventually, I'm sure. I could accept if he lost to the Irish Lariat that Liam has built up as a blistering finisher. But a slingshot into the turnbuckle? Just came across as very strange to me - and to some of the comments and confusion I overheard in The Heel Section, I don't think I was the only one.

That being said... Congrats to Liam! Big win heading into a BIG show in May. The IYF Academy graduate is clearly someone the company is firmly behind and rightfully so. McFerrin brings something unique to the table and has a good amount of long term potential.

That ALSO being said... How DARE they disgrace Fronz Roddy in such a fashion!?! But wait, there's more! Out comes Maxx Burton - who gets brutally razzed by The Heel Section for his trouble - and he has more bad news for Fronz. Burton announces that he will face former WWE Superstar, Val Venis, at May 18th's "Memories, Moments, and Mayhem" in Amsterdam! He tosses Val towel to Fronz and leaves the Mighty One to ponder his fate.

A lot to digest from that whole segment heading into intermission:

- Shiloh on the Shelf?
- Newer Breed Champion?
- Is the Venis Mighter than The Mighty?

A lot to think about. But no time for that! It's intermission and you know what THAT means? RAFFLE TIME! Did I win? No. No, I didn't. As the dude that sat behind me who I need to formally introduce myself to pointed out: "The Brisbin Streak is OVER!"

But I didn't leave empty handed! In addition to being handed some seriously cool drawings by Michael Anthony (which you can look forward to seeing featured on this blog and our Facebook page in the coming weeks) as well as what I can ONLY describe as a "Good Lord Willing Giftbag" (more on THAT on the next BLOGCAST Friday!). Very cool stuff.

Above we see Wrestlefudge Ticket Giveaway Winner, MICHAEL FREEDEN, getting an autograph from Jamar "Magic" Justice! A good night for Mr.Freeden! One might call it a MAGICAL night!

Coming out of intermission, Maxx Burton came back out and announced that in addition to "The Genius" Lanny Poffo and Val Venis appearing on May 18th... IYFW fans can also expect to see Irishman, FIT FINLAY, on the show! Basically... If you want the TNA-sponsored snore-fest (I still love you, Tommy Dreamer) that the PWHF is endorsing on May 18th then the only Irishman you can expect is Davey O'Hannon.

Ha!

But if you love independent wrestling... And have fond memories of WWE/WWF's better years... Then you should choose In Your Face Wrestling and IT's big Irishman of choice not-named-Liam... FIT FUCKING FINLAY.

The choice is clear. Anyhow... Back to ACTION!

Maxx would then call out The Savage Wolves! Making their entrance, Scott and Ravage make their way around the ring (nice shirt by the way, Damon!) and CJ took a moment to stare down his buddy and mine, Will Cena.

Yeah. It was a little tense.

Maxx explained to them that, due to their 100% genuine apology, the board is willing to give them an opportunity to reinstate their contract. Ravage got on the stick and DEMANDED their opponents come out to face them... And Maxx laughed. "You are your opponents."

Yup. They have to face each other. Winner gets a contract, loser goes bye-bye. Damon tries to convince CJ that this wouldn't be worth it... But CJ likes the way it sounds. He blindsides his brother and the Battle of the Wolves ensued...

I enjoyed this match a lot and so did the crowd, despite the heel vs heel factor. Damon popped the crowd hard with a series of strikes and backfists before CJ Scott regained control. CJ gave his little brother a variation of the Michaels/Flair "pre-execution apology" before delivering a nice package Piledriver for the 3 count.

Scott showed little remorse when his hand was raised and Damon made a sullen exit from the arena via the front door as the fans serenaded his leaving. Poor little fella.

Photo Op!

You're looking at Scott Scarsdale's Mystery Partner and the newest member of his Blood Money stable! Interesting pick! Michael Anthony immediately wins over the crowd with his energy, insanity, and yes - his shakeweight... Yet he clearly is working a heel style (I heard you, Michael. I suck. I know.) and is an off the wall choice to be paired with Scarsdale. I like it don't get me wrong, b/c it means he will obviously get more consistent IYFW bookings... and I never saw it coming.

Scarsdale and Anthony would face the IYFW Tag Champs in a non-title contest. Jamar Justice and Ricky Williams got their usually large pop from the crowd, a crowd that was clearly amped for this match. This match was dominated by Williams/Anthony in the ring with some quick appearances by Scarsdale and Justice. When Jamar was tagged in, his power dazzled. Scarsdale would eventually take him OUT outside the ring with the tag belt...

Giving Anthony the opportunity to come off the top rope with shakeweight in hand, crushing it over Ricky Williams head... In full view of the referee.

Who IS this character?

That allowed Anthony to steal the win for Blood Money... while the IYFWrestling.com result indicates that perhaps they BOUGHT the win. Interesting. Wonder if they will now get a title shot by virtue of this shady win? And if the shady ref in this match will also ref THAT match? Hmmmmmm...

Anyhow, the finish had the crowd heated. What they hell did we just see? How could the ref miss that?!?

Given the frantic crowd reactions this match elicited, I felt bad for whatever match might follow it. Honestly. Following a shakeweight is nearly impossible.

And to be truthful, the Drake Evans/Roman Dominguez bout absolutely suffered from that tired crowd - though the effort put out by both men never reflected what little the fans were giving them.

This was absolutely the all out brawl I said on our latest BLOGCAST *had* to happen. Once things went outside, the BACC woke back up. Check out that kick up there.

Or - OUCH - how about THAT one? Fucking awesome. This match would end on the outside as well when Referee Justin Saint counted them both out. This did not sit well with Drake Evans who, in a fit of rage, knocked the referee out cold with one stiff right hand.

While I was disappointed that it ended relatively early, I am excited about the quality of what they were able to give us in the time allotted and the potential for a continuation of hostilities between these two top contenders! Early prediction? No DQ Rematch on May 18th. What.

Yeah. That's a wrestlefudge t-shirt on the back of the Hardest Working Man in Independent Wrestling™ and the Number One Contender to the IYFW Championship.

Last week, when we had Bobby O on the phone with us, he told us we would see things from him against Pierre Vachon that we'd never seem before. That he had some tricks up his sleeve. And he was not lying. Normally we see Vachon get his opponent in this position, mauled and clawed. It was surprising and surprisingly believable. Bobby Ocean and Pierre Vachon work two totally different styles yet seem to find a very happy medium every time they square off. Ocean took it to the champion early, targeting "The Beast's" hand almost from the bell.

Above we see Vachon's chain (which he introduced outside the ring) wrapped around his hand, and around the ring post... And Ocean's running drop kick into it. Well done spot that the crowd loved. Clearly, Ocean was out to take away Vachon's most dangerous weapon.

The Mandible Claw.

When Vachon locked it on, Ocean first broke out of it... Then, when reapplied, he gave Vachon a dose of his own medicine that almost won "The Shaft" the gold. Bobby would then miss a top rope splash, giving Pierre the chance to lock on the hold once more and Ocean passed out.

Really solid match. They absolutely gave the crowd the idea that Ocean had a very real chance of winning the strap - and they need to do more of that in the big matches.

Great visual to end the show that sent a very real message. Vachon is one bad mother... His finisher is relentlessly punishing... And there doesn't seem to be anyone that can stand against him.

And I'm liking it.

Makes you wonder what the future holds, eh? And isn't that what this biz is all about?

Such a good time had by all. The entire Wrestlefudge Contingent had a good time... and that almost never happens. For more details such as my pick for MATCH, WRESTLER, HIGHLIGHT, and FLOP of the Night as well as my BLOGCAST colleague Will Cena's take on his very first live IYFW experience - match by match - be sure to keep an eye and an ear out for Friday afternoon's Wrestlefudge BLOGCAST!

Quick Updates and Notable Notes

A few quick things to throw out there as we all shake off our annual shamrock-induced hangover:

- great time had last night at the BACC in Ballston Spa, NY. In Your Face Wrestling consistently puts on entertaining matches, has great fan interaction, with another hot crowd. The Heel Section was in rare form last night and the Wrestlefudge t-shirts were plentiful; both on fans AND a few wrestlers who were kind enough to rock our colors and logo down to the ring! An absolute honor! The shirts were plentiful but not plentiful enough as demand was VERY high among the fans in attendance AND the workers themselves! More info to come on how YOU can get an official Wrestlefudge shirt!

- our usual event recap/review post will likely go up sometime in the Monday/Tuesday window. Possibly sooner. Likely sooner. So keep checking back! Got some great pics and some hysterical stories to share.

- you may notice that all of our "older" editions of the fabled and critically-ignored Wrestlefudge BLOGCAST are OFF of our soundcloud account. We are working with 68 Caroline Productions to provide a more permanent (less limited!) home for those shows and the ENTIRE archive will then be made available! I know it's an inconvenience but bear with us as we go through this transition. As it stands, the most current podcast will be the only podcast available for listening. Again, that will change soon, we hope.

- speaking of the BLOGCAST, Will and I weren't sure if we would have time to get together to put a show together this Friday... But after last nights show there is SO MUCH to talk about that we would be doing a disservice to our listeners and other IYFW fans if we skipped a week... So we will MAKE the time this Friday afternoon to give you a new show! More info on that to come, so stay glued to our Facebook page for further updates.

- great to meet some more fans of IYFW and Indy wrestling in general last night. Honestly guys, is there anything better than going to these shows? Such fun. Will and I also made some contacts that may further the imprint of the wrestlefudge brand. So... Be sure to tune in to the BLOGCAST to hear more on that. Cool(er) stuff may be on the horizon!

Thanks for reading!

Your Argument is Invalid

Wow. I don't know if his finger twitched or if he thought he was following someone or something else... But CHIKARA Pro Wrestling founder (and one of the most incredible wrestlers in the world), Mike Quakenbush, started following @wrestlefudge 3 days ago. And I'm just realizing it.

That is just awesome.

Hi, Mike! Big fans! Will and I would love to see CHIKARA live! Come Upstate, heh.

If Quack is following us... Shouldn't YOU be?

Like us on facebook as well, while you're at it... We use that more than twitter.

IYFW Presents: "St.Patrick's Day Massacre" -- PREVIEW/PREDICTIONS

Well, kiss my blarney stone and call me Patrick (actually, don't) - it's about that time! The Ballston Area Community Center has sat silent, dormant since the "Moment" was "Seized" and IYFW fans have been more than ready for the next installment of in your proverbial face action. Timing this event with St.Patrick's Day should add an additional party-element to the festivities and a built-in theme. Smart, easy marketing! Let's take a gander at the matches announced and start speculating:

IYFW New Breed Championship
Fronz Roddy (C) vs Shiloh Robinson
The roots of this match go deep. Shiloh Robinson struggled valiantly against then-New Breed Champ Roman Dominguez for the better part of 2011 yet was repeatedly unable to capture the gold. He earned a shot at the title - now in the mighty possession of Fronz Roddy - way back at "THE BRASS RING" despite being the first man eliminated in that rugged Elimination-Match-of-Survival. His team won the match, so a title shot was his. "Not so fast," said Fronz. Roddy claimed that Shiloh hadn't earned a shot in his eyes. Well... IYFW management told Roddy that he HAS to defend his belt on March 17th or will be STRIPPED of it! Is this the night that Shiloh has been waiting for?
PAUL's PREDICTION: No. The Mighty Will Prevail!

European Ladder Match
Good Lord Willing vs "The Anarchist" Ian Daniels
The Ballston Spa Screw Job back in August nearly tarnished Ian Daniels reputation forever, but he "Seized the Moment" back in January and had his due measure of revenge! Now the Good Lord wants ANOTHER match, and this time the sadistic bastard wants to add a ladder to the mix! Daniels was quick to accept and we here at wrestlefudge were equally quick to applaud that announcement. No one is sure (or is talking) about just what the rules to a "European Ladder Match" might be, but we don't care. This is going to be a fun, entertaining match that will undoubtedly have ME laughing my ass off. Both of these guys amuse the living hell out of me.
PAUL's PREDICTION: Ian Daniels Reigns Supreme!

"The Pillar" Roman Dominguez vs Drake Evans
This is likely to be the hardest-hitting match of the night. These two have turned in impassioned promo's both via YouTube and via guest appearances on our very own Wrestlefudge BLOGCAST and one thing is clear: BOTH men want to get this match behind them to focus on the coveted IYFW Championship! But it's never that easy, is it? This match is sure to be a war, and I'd really like to see this become a brawl that goes all over the BACC. I understand, and GET, that that's not really conducive to the way that IYFW films their events, but it would be something TRULY different in that venue and would really communicate the visceral and gritty nature of what this mini-feud has become.
PAUL's PREDICTION: Inconclusive Finish. Like I said... Both guys want to get this match and this beef behind them and move on to bigger and better things, which is exactly why that WON'T happen.

IYFW Championship
Pierre "The Beast" Vachon vs "The Shaft" Bobby Ocean
Bobby Ocean did not compete in an IYFW ring in 2011 without tangling with the reigning and defending IYFW Champion, Pierre "The Beast" Vachon. He beat Vachon by DQ, lost in a tag team effort when Evans choked on Sausage Fingers, and was eliminated (a few times?) by Vachon in the IN YOUR FACE RUMBLE. Kind of fitting that Ocean's first match in IYFW in 2012 is against Vachon. As I said recently on our BLOGCAST, the BACC crowd adores Bobby Ocean and views him as one of the most legitimate stars to work this circuit, they routinely chant his name during main event title bouts when he isn't in the building. They WANT him in the mix. If they book this match with some near falls and tease a title change a few times (which wasn't what the recent Vachon/Evans bout did) they will have those fans eating out of their hands. Ocean is booked for IYFW's next show in May... Does that mean he will walk out of Ballston Spa with some extra gold?
PAUL's PREDICTION: No... The belt stays on Vachon. But it should be close! And we will almost assuredly see Evans and Dominguez make an appearance just to keep the belt floating around THEIR feud.

ALSO CONFIRMED:
Nocturne
Michael Anthony

Both of these names make me smile! Nocturne always turns in a high energy, entertaining performance and Anthony wow'd the crowd with his use of ring props, swagger, and repertoire of moves. He burst through the curtain to kick of January's show and the crowd immediately accepted him as one of their own. (take that for what you may, Ballston Spa!)

UNANNOUNCED TALENT I WANT TO SEE:
Ricky Rockett -- BOOK the ROCKETT!
Big Vigo
Liam McFerrin
Foxx Vinyer
The Real Coleman
The Uprising: Justice and Williams
The Savage Wolves

Liam is a no brainer - kind of shocked they didn't promote him. Vigo has seemed mired in near obscurity since dropping the belt to Vachon, Vinyer and Coleman need to work against each other in a fun feud, for christs sake, and the Wolves need to make an impact! DON'T book the Wolves, IYFW! I wanna see what they have up their sleeve! As for the tag champs, I have to believe we will see some sort of follow up with Blood Money, which brings me to...

WHAT ELSE?
- Scott Scarsdale is promising a new member of his Blood Money stable this Saturday night. But WHO? Honestly, who knows? Part of me would like to see "MegaStar" Michael Monroe get this spot, to add a bit more flash to the heel team (and, hell, we know he can work with Jamar and Ricky, eh?) But to be honest, I'd be happy with just about anyone. Since Capitol Punishment seem to be clearly separated, another consistent, heel tag team would be welcome, no matter it's composition.
PAUL's PREDICTION: Michael Monroe, sans Doogie Howser lab coat.

- The Savage Wolves made their apology ... Sort of ... And they expect IYFW to book them for this show. If they don't... Well... Let's not think about that. ....I mean, YES. Let's think about that! CJ Scott may have one of the most devious minds in IYFW, I look forward to seeing how he responds when Maxx Burton screws him over once again, much to the glee of the BACC sheep (Heel Section Not Included)!
PAUL's PREDICTION: The Wolves get shafted then QUICKLY get revenge. Leave some bitches laying. Kind of what they do. Sort of what I love.

- Will I win the raffle, once again? I am something like 4 for 6 when it comes to winning nonsense at an IYFW show. I'm not writing this to encourage more people to get in on the raffle -- on the contrary! Stay AWAY from the raffle! I need to keep my mojo going!

Hope to see you there! Will and I will be there, front row! We will be the assholes wearing the Wrestlefudge shirts. Feel free to come say hello if you're a reader of the 'blog!
